Diving and The Long Sault Motel.
The Long Sault Motel is situated in the heart of the Lost Villages area. So called after inundation of the original villages in the path of the giant flood plain caused by the damming of the St Lawrence River above Cornwall in 1958. Hidden below these waters are many original features, buildings and lock gate systems.
The crystal clear water of the St Lawrence with the area’s abundance of aquatic life and underwater features make it a haven for freshwater diving. Many of the key dives can be accessed from the banks, a short walk from parking and BBQ areas. Whilst the Parkway and surrounding areas have many launch sites for boats if required.
Many Dive parties stay at the motel, but the owners are not divers and stress they have only a brief knowledge of the best dive sites so internet research is recommended for first time visitors.
